Personal Interests
Personal Interests
My interest in the outdoors has fluctuated over the years. However, my love of being outdoors increased when I spent the summer of 2015 in Alaska! There is nothing like being on the top of a mountain with a view to clear your head and feel calm.
While eating food is fun, my creative side comes out when I get in the kitchen. Making something that is delicious out of random ingredients left over in your pantry is so rewarding. And, of course, it looks good on Instagram too!
I have always had the knack for singing and being on stage. Though I don't get the opportunity lately to sing and act as I did in high school and undergrad, I love to attend performances large and small. Getting dressed up and spending an evening a the theatre is the perfect night out for me!

Professional Interests
Over the course of my graduate school experience, I have identified an interest in developing healthy masculinities development. Working in an all-male residence hall paired with my experience with fraternities, I see a need for addressing how college men navigate and develop in a college environment to explore their true, authentic self.
Having the opportunity to work in the Intercultural Engagement Center as well as explore important concepts in multicultural affairs, I have identified that this work is important to creating positive, inclusive environments. I have since been interested in personally and professionally developing my competence in intercultural dialogue and creating spaces where students can explore and understand the world around them.
Coming from a Communication Studies background, I love all things digital and social media. What I am most interested in is how students engage in a digital space while attending college and how that may help or hinder their ability to find community. While I don't have all the answers, I am committed to finding new and innovative ways to connect with students in a digital space and help them find community wherever that may be.
Ultimately, the reason why I am in the higher education profession is to help students explore who they are and discover their passion. So often students search for a degree to make the most money or to go into a profession that their parents went into. It is my hope that through my work, I can help students identify their true calling so that they may grow personally and live a life that makes a positive impact to those around them.
